Midsummer Project

As a final assessment for reading A Midsummer Night’s Dream, you must choose one of the following five projects to complete.

DUE:  Monday, May 6th

1. MOVIE POSTER

On a piece of poster board, create an advertisement for A Midsummer Night’s Dream.  Include the following:

ü  Title and author of the play

ü  Appropriate, relevant illustrations to decorate the poster.

ü  At least one important quote from the play which represents one of the themes.

ü  A symbol which represents some aspect of the play

ü  Write a one-page, typed wedding announcement for any of the engaged couples and attach to the back.

2. COLLAGES

Complete two 8x10 collages that represent one of the couples.  One should represent the male (Oberon, Theseus, Demetrius, Lysander) and one should represent the female (Helena, Hippolyta, Hermia, Titania).

ü  Each collage must cover the page and can include words.

ü  The collages should represent how the couple perceives themselves as individuals (how do they see themselves).

Be creative!

3. MONOLOGUE/SOLILOQUY

Memorize a monologue or soliloquy from Midsummer Night’s Dream.  You can find a list of them at: http://www.shakespeare-monologues.org/plays/13?g=3

ü  It must be a speech of at least 15 lines.

ü  You must act it out. Emotions should be appropriate for the context of the speech.

ü  Prepare both a description of the scene and a description of the character.

ü  Develop a program to go with the monologue.

Be creative!  Go all out and dress up and add props.
